Description
Information:
Restoration of "Bootes, Canes Venatici, Coma Berenices, and Quadrans Muralis" by Sidney Hall (1788–1831), from the 1825 popular astronomy text, A Familiar Treatise on Astronomy by Jehoshaphat Aspin.
This is a historical star chart, and some things weren't completely fixed then that are now. That said, of the constellations on this particular chart, only Quadrans Muralis, the mural quadrant [*] has faded into astronomical history - though it does give the name of the Quadrantid meteor shower. Well, and Mons Mænalus, the mountain Bootes stands on, but that's really more of a division of Bootes, like Caput Medusae is a little bit of Perseus.
Restoration:
Removed dirt and stains, adjusted colours against the colour cube, made the border more neutral, sharpening, rotation, etc. Took about 3 hours.
Copyright: It's from 1825, and not created by Methuselah. U.K. Copyright lasts 70 years after death of the creator. We're quite safe here.
Music:
Hold F11 for a minute while watching this image. Why?
Shake shake shake,
Shake shake shake,
Shake your Boötes,
Shake your Boötes.

[*] A mural quadrant is a mostly obsolete instrument used in astronomy to measure angles. See [link]
