A lot of the ephemera of the Victorian period is so wonderful; even the mass-produced stuff shows an artistic talent largely not present today. I love cleaning them off of the century of damage and sharing them.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I do think there's a lot of great art from the modern period. But half-toning is a pretty horrible way of reproducing art, and a lot of reproductions clearly don't even care about getting things right, like the modern copy of Gustave Doré's illustrations to Dante's Inferno which decided to crop big sections off the original artworks, and managed to remove half the details.
